And What Else…? Nausea/Vomiting and Delirium Assessment and Management

This activity is designed to enable hospice and palliative care clinicians to discern the pathophysiology of, and techniques for, assessment and management of patients reporting nausea, vomiting, or delirium, all of which are common distressing problems for patients with serious illnesses. Special topics will include management of patients with malignant bowel obstruction; interpreting the rational for the prophylaxis and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting; and analysis of the controversies surrounding treatment of patients with hypoactive delirium. Content will include non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic practice strategies for the patients, and the common educational needs of their informal caregivers.
