AAHPM's Intensive Review Course is designed to facilitate a framework for physicians to prepare for the hospice and palliative medicine certification board examination as outlined in the current Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certification Examination Blueprint. With content focused on the ability to make appropriate diagnostic and clinical decisions that have important consequences for patients and families experiencing serious and complex illnesses, this course aims to advance the knowledge, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical judgment skills, attitudes, and strategies of physicians and advanced practice providers practicing hospice and palliative medicine.
Registration includes:
- Pre-course prep material to prepare learners for the live event
- Three days of intensive review content delivered in a live, virtual environment
- Extended self-study content

Target Audience
Physicians preparing for ABIM HPM Certification/MOC
Physicians preparing for HMDCB Certification (clinical aspects of the Blueprint will be addressed)
Interdisciplinary clinicians seeking advanced preparation in HPM blueprint clinical domains
Audience includes hospice physicians, fellows, advanced practice providers, and other professionals in hospice/palliative leadership roles
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Apply evidence-based approaches to prognostication, symptom management, and interdisciplinary teamwork across HPM blueprint domains.
- Analyze board-style exam questions and apply test-taking strategies to improve performance.
- Demonstrate competence in ethical/legal reasoning, communication, and end-of-life management through case-based application.
- Integrate compliance, professionalism, and systems-based practice into hospice/palliative workflows.
- Evaluate individual strengths/weaknesses across blueprint domains using pre-work self-assessment to inform personalized study and practice plans.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Recognition Statement
Through the American Board of Medical Specialties (“ABMS”) ongoing commitment to increase access to practice relevant Continuing Certification Activities through the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory, Intensive Review Course 2026 applies toward general CME requirement for the following ABMS Member Boards:
- Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 24.5 MOC Medical Knowledge points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
- Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 24.5 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics' (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit. By submitting your evaluation, you grant AAHPM permission to submit completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting respective BOARD MOC program credit or points as applicable. De-identified aggregated data from the evaluation may be used for research and/or publication and will conform to generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection and analysis where indicated.
